Tender: Stories

A collection of nineteen short stories, all previously published in science fiction and fantasy anthologies, and an unpublished novella, ‘Fallow’, from the author of ‘A Stranger in Olondria’, and ‘The Winged Histories’. These are eerie tales set in disquieting times and realities, on the various themes and meaning of her title, ‘Tender’. Samatar’s work sometimes loses cohesion in the complexity of her visions (‘A Stranger in Olondria’), but these short stories encapsulate bitter-sweet revelations from broken mirrors and shattered windows looking out into a dystopian future of our own making…
